The Board of Directors of the Vacation Rental Industry Association are elected from the membership according to voting priviledges. Leaders determine policies and procedures of the group, recruit and select the staff and oversee services offered. Generally questions should be directed to the staff, but you are welcome to email Board members who may respond or ask staff to do so.

Over 30 years, William May has started, purchased or operated a dozen different businesses. These have been in the fields of marketing, advertising, publishing, real estate and lodging. Today he is busiest as President of Sunspot Resorts a company that manages Inns, Resorts & Vacation Rentals in a number of states.
The Sunspots Network is growing a nationwide network of professional lodging property managers and supplies marketing, administration, software and central reservations services to them. This has allowed the company to be one of the fastest growing competitors in its industry.
William is a Certified Vacation Rental Professional (CVRP). Prior to Sunspots, William serves as President of Stonemark Business Brokers working on the sale of a hundred different companies and provided acquisition search services to corporations and individual buyers. During that time he wrote a number of books for the industry and taught classes to the world's finest mid-market business brokers.
Early in his career William founded MayPartners an advertising and marketing business with offices in Seattle, Washington and Portland Oregon. The company grew consistently and provided innovative ideas to dozens of Northwest Businesses.
William was the founder of the Vacation Rental Industry Association (VRIA, formerly VROA) a trade association for Vacation Rental Managers Owners, Website Publishers and Suppliers. It operates the world's only Multiple-Listing-Service (MLS) for Vacation rentals at www.VRMLS.org and has initiated the only Certification Program for Managers (CVRM) and Owners (CVRO). He is also the founder of the Washington State Vacation Rental Managers' Association (WAVRMA).
William is married to Penny Taylor who is Vice President of Sunspot Resorts. They have a son in college and the family enjoys travel, theater, music and sports in its homes in Washington State and Hawaii. William has also been active in numerous not-for-profit organizations and industry trade associations.
